The right sheet set can make or break your bed setup—and your sleep. From temperature-regulating materials to durability that outlasts countless washes, the best sheets should enhance your bedroom and encourage better rest. After spending months testing—and retesting—some of the most popular sets on the market, we crowned the our top pick. With a lusciously elegant feel that remains flowy and soft after years of use, this set offers a lot to love. Though we should note that the ideal sheet material, weight and texture differs from person to person. That’s why we rounded up the eight best sheet sets that proved to be most dreamy after at-home testing.
Why We Named Them Best Overall
No matter how many different sheets I test, the Cozy Earth Bamboo Set always makes its way back into my rotation. It’s one of my (and many other Forbes Vetted editors’) absolute favorites because of how exceptionally soft and silky the fabric feels. The sheets are also extremely lightweight and flowy, making them a great cooling option. I have a set that has lasted through several washes over the past few years without any signs of pilling or deterioration.
In a recent round of retesting our favorite picks, our panel determined them as the clear winner. “This is peak ‘slinky’ comfort,” says one tester, adding that the sheets are “aggressively soft” and feel "significantly cooler to the touch than cotton.” They have an oversized design, and the fitted sheet can accommodate mattresses up to 20 inches, making them suitably sized for most beds. They come backed with a 10-year warranty, as well.
May Have A Translucent Quality
There’s one possible downside to the lightweight profile of these sheets, particularly if you select a faint color, like white: they’re slightly translucent on your pillows and mattress. If you prefer a thicker, warmer sheet, these may not be the best fit; as one tester notes: “I’m more into the crisp-feel, but if you’re specifically looking for a silky set, this is a great option.”

Why We Named Them Best Cotton
A few picks on this list are made from cotton (and not all cotton sheets feel or look the same due to the various weaves they feature), but we named Boll & Branch’s Signature Hemmed Sheet Set our favorite of them all because they’re luxurious, naturally cooling and long-lasting.
Mattress and sleep editor McKenzie Dillon relies on them year-round since they drape over you without making you feel too hot. “The sheets have been through countless cycles in the washer and dryer and they never lost their silky-smoothness," Dillon adds.
Crisp, Weighted Feel That’s Crowd-Pleasing
Made from 100% organic cotton, these sheets feature a classic matte finish that’s similar to what you’d find in a high-end hotel—and they get softer with every wash. Just note that it requires a few wash cycles before noticing a difference in texture, says one of our testers.
Another tester describes the sheets as having “structured softness” and a “weighted feeling that drapes well but feels cozy once it warms up.” He adds that compared to our top pick from Cozy Earth, these “have a bit more grip and crispness while still being soft against the skin."
The fitted sheet can also fit mattresses up to 17 inches (or your thicker-than-average bed), so we think they’re an accommodating pick for most people. We also appreciate the large variety of colors and patterns to choose from.
Why We Named Them Best Value
These sheets are soft and lightweight with a feel that’s surprisingly high-quality when you consider the price. The microfiber material isn’t prone to wrinkling nor clinging to the skin, and it comes in an overwhelming variety of colors and size options to suit any bedroom aesthetic or sleeper preference.
Impressive Durability For The Price
I discovered these sheets nearly a decade ago when I was visiting a friend and needed to know what sheets were on her guest bed. When I learned the price, I immediately ordered a set that—according to my Amazon order history—lasted a little over three years before I ordered another. (Keep in mind these were my main sheets at the time.)
Their endorsements don’t come from my friend and me alone, though; these sheets have received over 200,000 5-star reviews from other shoppers who compliment their smoothness, durability and temperature regulation. Just keep in mind the microfiber material is not as natural or high-quality as the others on this list.
Why We Named Them Best Cooling
Self-proclaimed hot sleeper Dillon found herself surprised by how well she slept with these sheets, especially given that they’re made from nylon—not traditionally known for its temperature-regulating qualities.
“I don’t normally recommend synthetic materials to people who sleep warm, but the Cool+ Sheets are now top of mind when I’m looking to make my bed in the summer,” she says. “They’re smooth and lightweight with a drapey finish, and feel subtly cool to the touch when I climb into bed.”
Soft, Cozy And Wrinkle-Resistant
Unlike other cooling sheets that tend to have a crisp, structured feel, these are buttery soft, with a feel that’s more akin to a bamboo or sateen material. The brand calls the fabric blend CoolPhiber, which combines nylon and spandex and is Oeko-Tex certified.
This combination also makes these sheets impressively resistant to wrinkling. While Dillon was testing, she accidentally left these sheets in the dryer overnight and thought she might find them wrinkled the next day. “There literally wasn’t one kink,” she says. “They looked picture-perfect on my mattress.”
Why We Named Them Best Deep-Pocket
These are our top pick among a selection of the best deep-pocket sheets for a few reasons: They can accommodate mattresses up to 16 inches tall, they come in a variety of colorways and they’re made from a long-staple cotton that’s soft and durable. This set is also our top pick for the best sateen sheets, as they have that signature smooth, lustrous feel.
Dillon calls them one of her favorite sets she’s ever owned. "They have the luxe, creamy feel of sateen, while maintaining a light and airy texture that’s comfy to sleep with all year round. They’ve only gotten softer with each wash,” she says.
These deep-pocket sheets don’t have the crisp, structured feel of percale, so if that’s your preference, check out the instead.
Convenient Details
In addition to offering 19 color and pattern options to choose from, this sheet set also has some thoughtful details that elevate it to a top pick. There are tags labeled as “long” and “short” on each side of the bottom sheet to help with making the bed, and the included pillowcases have envelope enclosures to keep them in place.
Why We Named Them Best Bamboo
After testing several sets of bamboo sheets, I’ve kept this pick from Quince in my regular rotation because it has the most balanced feel in terms of being soft and lightweight, but not too thin or lacking substance. I also enjoy their subtle sheen and drapey appearance, and they’ve maintained their softness after several washes. Since they’re made with 100% viscose from organic bamboo, they’re hypoallergenic and a great option for anyone with sensitive skin or allergies.
Prone To Wrinkling
Bamboo sheets aren’t typically known for their wrinkle-resistant qualities, so be prepared to take extra care to keep this sheet set looking smooth. Quince recommends pulling the sheets out from the dryer immediately for the best results. The brand also suggests avoiding using fabric softener or dryer balls when washing and drying them to prevent pilling.
Why We Named Them Best Luxury
This Legends Hotel sheet set from The Company Store features a 450-thread-count construction combined with a Supima cotton sateen weave—ultimately creating an extremely luxurious, hotel-quality feel. “Out of the box, they feel silky smooth and oh-so soft,” says updates writer Alex Garrett. “They also have a nice, balanced thickness that keeps you cozy without overheating.”
On top of a luxurious feel, these sheets stay wrinkle-free and maintain their softness and high-end look, even after several washes. Plus, they come in a wide spectrum of color options and sizes, including deep-pocket options (that come at a slightly higher price).
Not Ideal For Hot Sleepers
Garrett notes that although these sheets are soft and luxurious, they’re not particularly cooling. In fact, higher thread count sheets are often less breathable due to the construction of the fabric. So hot sleepers may want to look elsewhere for an option that’s more temperature regulating.
Why We Named Them Best Linen
Linen sheets are often associated with being scratchy, but the Bed Threads 100% French Flax Linen Sheets rebel strongly against that reputation. As Dillon puts it, they’re “an anomaly in that they manage to be soft to the touch and substantial in weight but light and airy at the same time.” Plus, they have a durable build that continues to get softer with each wash.
A Soft Feel For Year-Round Comfort
Although linen sheets are typically associated with summer weather, these have a decidedly cozy feel that makes them great for year-round use. Dillon says they’ve become her go-to set throughout the year since they’re “cozy enough for the wintertime and breathable enough for a hot sleeper in the summertime.”
Similar to sateen, these sheets are soft and buttery, but with a matte finish and more breathable design. Plus, they come in dozens of different color options to suit any bedroom aesthetic or seasonal preference.
How We Tested The Best Sheets
To compile a list of the best bed sheets, we performed thorough research and testing for years, ensuring we delivered trusted picks that perform well in real-world settings.
Research
- Brands: We dug into our bedding-testing experience and researched the most sought-after sheets from reputable brands like , , and others.
- Experts: We tapped professional interior designers and textile experts to help inform our choices and recommendations.
- Reviews: We also took into consideration customer reviews and only recommended options that have primarily high ratings.
Testing
- At-home use: Every sheet set on this list has gone through multiple rounds of thorough testing and has been slept on by a Forbes Vetted staffer for at least a month, and in some cases for multiple years.
- Care: Along with paying attention to details like comfort, design and temperature regulation, we took note of how easy the sheets are to care for. Sheet sets were laundered according to the manufacturer’s instructions to evaluate pilling, wrinkling and overall durability.
- Comparison: For some materials, we first tested specific ones against each other. For example, two editors tested 11 different linen sets to identify as the top linen sheets.
- Re-testing: A three-person panel recently retested six of our top picks to ensure our feedback and ratings for overall quality, feel, breathability, durability and maintenance were fair and accurate.
What To Look For When Shopping For The Best Sheets
Finding the best sheets for you comes down to what feel and materials you prefer, along with any temperature-regulation needs. “Your bed should be a sanctuary, so I would say that it’s worth it to invest in really high-quality sheets,” says Kathy Kuo, interior designer and founder/CEO of Kathy Kuo Home. “Your skin, hair and overall mental and physical health will all benefit from quality sheets and a better night’s sleep.”
Materials
The first aspect to focus on is the type and quality of a sheet’s material. “We spend so much time in our beds, so it’s worth it to spend a little more on bedding to ensure you’re comfortable and surrounded by high-quality materials that will last for a long time,” says Kuo. Here are the sheet materials featured on this list:
- Cotton. Perhaps the most popular fibers for sheets, cotton is known for being durable, breathable and soft. There are different types and weaves of cotton, like long-staple and sateen, so you can find the right combination for the look and feel you’re after. “If you want a crisp, cool feeling, percale or pure cotton will be your best bet,” says Kuo.
- Linen. Linen is another durable and popular choice that is especially beneficial for hot sleepers. High-quality linen is typically more expensive than cotton, but it provides a soft, luxurious feel that can last for several years.
- Bamboo. Bamboo offers a soft, silky and breathable feel. It’s usually lighter in weight than the other materials. It’s either mechanically processed in a closed loop system or chemically processed—the former being the more sustainable choice.
- Microfiber. This is a type of polyester that has a soft feel with a wrinkle-free design. It’s a more affordable option, but it is a synthetic material and less natural than the others listed above.
Kuo advises keeping in mind whether you plan to swap out your bedding seasonally, as well. “For example, the cool feeling of crisp percale works really well for the warmer summer months, and then the softness and warmth of flannel [sheets] is nice for the wintertime,” she says.
Thread Count
Although often advertised as being important, thread count is not a full indicator of a sheet’s quality. Rather, think of it as a guide.
- Lower thread count (250 to 300): This generally means a sheet set is going to be more lightweight and breathable, which may be more comfortable for hot sleepers. “Lower thread count allows more airflow through,” says textile science professor Karen Leonas. She adds that this typically also results in more flexibility in the fabric.
- Higher thread count (400 to 500): This usually correlates to thicker, heavier sheets. “They have a tendency to trap air better, so it’s going to keep you warmer,” says Leonas. This can also yield a softer, smoother feel.
Also keep in mind that every fabric doesn’t use thread count as a measurement; silk, flannel and linen are all ones that don’t use it since they’re manufactured differently.
Bed Height
Will Taylor, interior designer and founder of Bright Bazaar, recommends measuring the height of your mattress (including any toppers) before purchasing sheets. “It’s important to look for sheets that specify both the pocket depth and the material quality to ensure a comfortable, lasting fit,” he says.
If you need deep-pocket sheets (typically over 12 to 14 inches), there should be plenty of options available, including many on our list. “You can find deep-pocket sheets in a variety of materials, including cotton, linen, bamboo and microfiber,” says Taylor.
