Hybrid mattresses have, unsurprisingly, quickly become the most popular mattress type: They offer the best of both worlds by combining the contouring feel of foam with the support of innersprings. But not all hybrid beds are made equal. To find the best hybrid mattresses of 2026, we tested 73 beds alongside a diverse panel of sleepers. The was the clear winner overall—its balanced blend of high-quality materials and premium features benefits a variety of sleep positions and body types.

We also found standout options that cater to specific needs, such as back pain and cooling. To gain further insight on the key qualities to consider in a hybrid mattress, we also consulted medical experts. Why We Named It Best Overall

The Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid balances the three things sleepers seek most in a hybrid mattress: comfort, support and cooling. Where some beds make you choose between one of these qualities, the Sapira Chill delivers on all three, making it one of the most versatile and accommodating options we tested.

Ideal For Side, Back And Stomach Sleepers

While the Sapira comes in three firmness levels, we still find the ‘medium-firm’ option accommodates the widest range of sleepers, including all three primary sleep positions. Seven of our testers tried the medium-firm model; they scored it a 9 out of 10 for back and stomach sleeping and an 8 out of 10 for side sleeping. One tester, who calls the Sapira Chill Hybrid one of her favorites for “back sleeping comfort,” says, “[It has] the right amount of plushness and stable support.” Senior strategy editor Katie Simpson also calls attention to its side sleeping comfort, and says, “I don’t feel much pressure buildup while on my side at all—I feel pretty well-cradled.”

However, we recommend lightweight individuals (anyone who weighs under 130 pounds) consider the ‘soft’ model for more plushness, while heavyweight sleepers (folks who weigh over 230 pounds) or those who prefer a lifted feel opt for the ‘firm’ for more sturdy support.

Checks Boxes For Hot Sleepers And Couples, Too

We consider most hybrid mattresses to be a good choice for hot sleepers, as the coil base allows for more breathability than other types, but the Sapira comes with a few additional cooling upgrades. One of these is a cool-to-the-touch cover, which senior mattress and sleep editor Bridget Chapman says helped her and her husband maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the night. “It doesn’t trap heat beneath your body,” Chapman says.

Another plus for couples, the Sapira Chill scored an 8 out of 10 in our motion isolation tests, meaning it does a good job at limiting the movement you feel from a restless partner or pet. Updates writer Alexandra Garrett says, “The water barely moved at all during testing. I even hopped into bed at one point and the water just swayed around in the glass. I can see myself comfortably sleeping on this bed with my dog who tosses and turns a lot.” Read more in our Leesa Sapira Chill Hybrid review.

Most Comfortable Hybrid Mattress

Plush And Pressure-Relieving Without Compromising On Support

Helix Midnight Luxe (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.5

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Medium | Height: 13.5 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 100 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You sleep with a partner or you switch sleeping positions from your side to your back.

Skip if: You prefer a firm feel or want a longer trial period.

Why We Named It Most Comfortable

The Helix Midnight Luxe earned high marks for comfort from nearly all of our testers, likely thanks to its medium-firm feel and thick, quilted pillow top. This construction creates the simultaneous feeling of being both lifted and cradled. Furthermore, six of our testers described the Midnight Luxe as luxurious and soft, which makes it a stand out choice for many side, back and combination sleepers.

Excellent Pressure Relief For Side And Back Sleepers

If you spend most of the night on your side or back (or you toss and turn between the two), the Midnight Luxe is much more forgiving for these positions than the firmer beds on this list. It scored a 9 out of 10 for side sleeping during our tests, and a 9.5 out of 10 for back sleeping. Senior content strategy analyst Catie Jaffe also notes that the layers of foam and coil work together to make it easier to move around on. “When lying on my side, I feel there’s space to move my arms into different positions and still maintain shoulder and head support, something I find tricky when dealing with pillow-top mattresses,” she says.

Comfort That Extends All The Way To The Edge

We also found the Helix Midnight Luxe provides just as much comfort and support on the edge of the bed as we found in the center of this mattress. As a result, it earned an 8 out of 10 in our edge support tests. “As someone who is often pushed to the edge of my bed by my two dogs taking up lots of space, edge support is really important to me. It feels like I could comfortably sleep in any position near the edge of this bed and not feel like I’m falling off,” says managing editor Emmy Favilla. Best Affordable Hybrid Mattress

A Well-Rounded Option That Sleeps Cool

Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.3

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Soft, medium or firm | Height: 12.25 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 120 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You want a comfortable, quality pick that’s easy on your wallet.

Skip if: You prefer the cradling feel of memory foam, or you want a particularly soft bed.

Why We Named It Best Affordable

The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid packs the most value out of any other mattress we tested, making it our top recommendation to anyone who wants a wallet-friendly option that still hits the mark on quality. Our testers agreed it feels durable and well-made, with the kind of sturdy support usually reserved for more expensive beds. As such, it’s also one of our picks for the best affordable mattresses of 2026.

A Balanced Feel That’s Especially Appealing To Back Sleepers

Similar to the , the Signature comes in three firmness levels (soft, medium and firm), although we found the medium model suits most sleeping positions: Our testers scored it an 8 out of 10 for side and stomach sleeping, and an 8.5 for back sleeping. While the medium model feels a little firmer than advertised, we didn’t mind the extra-supportive feel. Chapman adds, “This is a dreamy mattress for back sleeping. The level of cushioning is just right for my hips, and my body feels supported overall. Its thick pillowy cover offers a gentle touch for the lower back and shoulders.”

Equal Parts Durable And Responsive

The Signature held up during our long-term tests, too. Dillon slept on this mattress for over a month and found it offers the same lasting comfort and support as more premium mattresses.

We were also impressed with this mattress’s level of responsiveness, which measures how easy it is to change positions. It earned an 8.5 out of 10 in this category, making it a solid option for sleepers who switch between their side and back or back and stomach. Best Hybrid Mattress For Sleepers Who Switch Between Their Back And Side

Responds To Changes In Position Quickly For Seamless Transitions

DreamCloud Premier Hybrid (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.3

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Medium-firm | Height: 13 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 365 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You switch between two or three sleep postures and want enhanced motion isolation at a reasonable price.

Skip if: You prefer a mattress on the very firm or very soft end of the spectrum.

Editor’s Note: DreamCloud has recently redesigned its Premier Hybrid mattress, and we plan to test the newer 2025 model. The review below is based on the previous version of this mattress; however, we stand by our recommendation based on how that model performed in our hands-on evaluation.

Why We Named It Best For Switching Between Back And Side

Not many hybrid mattresses can suit each sleeping position as nicely and comfortably as the DreamCloud Premier Hybrid. Its thick stack of memory foam comfort layers coupled with its quilted Euro Top provide plenty of pressure relief and support for both side and back sleepers. Plus, it responds to movement quickly, making position changes seamless.

The Best Balance Of Support And Pressure Relief

All six of our testers found the Premier Hybrid’s medium-firm feel provided great support and cushioning along their back and sides. Jaffe says, “I enjoy back sleeping on this mattress. My body remained aligned, yet there is a bit more pressure relief in the shoulder and trunk area than in the [the brand’s base model].” Favilla adds, “My body feels cradled by the mattress, and it’s very comfortable to sleep on my back on this one. I imagine it would be comfy to sleep all night in this position.”

A Uniquely Responsive Feel, Despite Its Thick Foam Composition

Unlike other hybrid beds with thick foam layers up top, the Premier Hybrid won’t make you feel too sandwiched inside of the mattress. One of its foam layers is designed precisely for responding to movement; that layer, combined with the springs underneath makes for an ultra-responsive mattress.

Jaffe says, “The mattress does not feel bouncy, but there is a comfortable balance of firmness and cushion that make it easy to move and roll around.” See our DreamCloud Premier Hybrid review for further details.

Best Hybrid Mattress For Side Sleepers

An Extra-Thick Option For Deep Pressure Relief

Nolah Evolution (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.5

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Plush (4 to 5), luxury firm (6 to 7) and firm (7 to 8) | Height: 14 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 120 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You primarily sleep on your side and are looking for a plush and pressure-reliving hybrid.

Skip if: You aren’t willing to buy deep pocket sheets or you have mobility/pain issues that could be aggravated by a tall bed.

Why We Named It Best For Side Sleepers

Among the dozens of mattresses we tested, the Nolah Evolution 15 Mattress showed it has superior cushion and pressure relief for side sleepers of various body sizes. This is largely due to its five foam comfort layers—most hybrid mattresses only feature two to three comfort layers tops—which provide exceptional pressure relief.

Able To Accommodate All Body Types

A wide variety of side sleepers found the Evolution equal parts supportive and comfortable: The ‘luxury firm’ model scored an 8.5 out of 10 for comfort with both average- and heavyweight testers.

That said, we recommend lightweight side sleepers or those who prefer a softer feel choose the plush model. Chapman (a lightweight sleeper) tested the plush version in her home for over a month and says, “The pressure relief has been fantastic for me as a side sleeper.” She continues, “It’s difficult to find a mattress that doesn’t cause at least some discomfort around my shoulder after lying on it for a while, but I haven’t felt that at all with this one.”

Also Great For Couples And Sleepers Who Switch Positions

Its foam layers and plush pillow top dampens movement well; we scored it an 8 out 10 for motion isolation. This means you shouldn’t feel most changes in your partner’s position at night. The Evolution also scored well for responsiveness, thanks to its springy coil base. When switching from one side to the other, you and your partner won’t feel stuck.“While the mattress isn’t bouncy, per se, it does feel responsive to movement,” says Favilla. What’s more, iFor a full breakdown, see our Nolah Evolution review.

Best Hybrid Mattress For Heavy Sleepers

A Pressure-Tested Hybrid That Supports Up To 900 Pounds

WinkBed Plus (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.8

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Firm | Height: 13.5 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 120 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You’re a plus-size sleeper seeking maximum support (up to 900 pounds), and you prefer to rest on your back, side or a combination of positions.

Skip if: You or your sleeping partner are a strict side sleeper weighing less than 200 pounds.

Why We Named It Best For Heavyweight Sleepers

The WinkBed Plus is easily one of the most durable and supportive mattresses we tested, with a higher-than-average weight capacity of 900 pounds. However, its extra-sturdy feel doesn’t exclude it from working well for other body types: Simpson is in the lightweight class and says, “My spine doesn’t feel out of alignment, and I don’t feel my hips sinking. [It] feels like an ideal mattress for back sleepers.”

Enhanced Support Without Sacrificing Comfort; Comfortable For Stomach Sleepers

The WinkBed boasts an array of durable, supportive materials: high-density foams, a latex (a highly durable mattress material) support layer and reinforced coils. It also comes with a thick pillow top, which our testers say feels luxuriously pressure-relieving, scoring it an 8 out of 10 for pressure relief. “This bed is firm yet cushioned,” says a tester. “The first thing I noticed was how plush and pillowy the very top layer of the mattress was, which made it seem more luxurious.”

Another one of our heavyweight testers says it feels most comfortable when lying on his stomach: “There’s even less of a sinking feeling than there is on my back and there’s no pressure on any parts of the body.”

Sturdy Edges That Stood Up To Our Tests

The WinkBed also scored above average in our edge support tests, earning a 9 out of 10 in the category. “I don’t notice a difference between the center of the mattress and the edge of the mattress. There’s enough support so that with my eyes closed, I’m not able to tell the difference between the edge and the center,” says our tester. This ensures the entire surface of the bed is suitable for sleeping and the edges feel secure when getting out of bed.

Best Hybrid Mattress For Back Pain

A Luxury Choice With A Unique Support System

Saatva Classic (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.8

Type: Innerspring hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Plush soft, luxury firm or firm | Height: 11.5 inches or 14.5 inches | Shipping: Free white glove delivery | Trial: 365 nights | Warranty: Lifetime

Buy if: You like a traditional innerspring feel with a touch of luxury.

Skip if: You want a traditional memory foam feel or a particularly soft bed.

Why We Named It Best For Back Pain

Another Forbes Vetted favorite, the Saatva Classic is an innerspring hybrid with multiple support layers designed to specifically target back pain and support the lumbar region. Our team tested both the luxury firm and firm models, and rated them two of the most supportive beds among 27 other mattresses. It also comes with a patented “spinal wire” in the center of the mattress to further support for your midsection, which is where we tend to hold the most weight.

Supports Your Spine’s Natural Posture

We tested all three firmness levels of the Saatva Classic and each of them scored highly in our support and pressure relief tests. While back sleeping on the firm model, mattress and sleep updates writer Alexandra Garrett says, “I feel supported and elongated on this mattress, similar to the [our favorite firm mattress overall]. It also provided a nice touch of cushioning around my hips, which I appreciate since I typically prefer a medium to medium-firm bed.” As for the luxury firm model, one tester says, “There is no pressure buildup in the lower back or the hips.”

Customizations Available

The Saatva Classic is available in two heights (11.5 or 14.5 inches) and your choice three firmnesses (plush, luxury firm or firm). We found the ‘luxury firm’ model to feel slightly firmer than medium-firm and the ‘firm’ model to be a true firm. Most people with back pain should feel best with either of these options. Check out our Saatva Classic review for more insights.

Although several mattresses on this list could work for couples, the Bear Elite strikes the best balance of support and comfort while excelling at features that matter most for couples, such as cooling, motion isolation and edge support.

A Great In-Between For Different Sleep Styles

Its construction doesn’t look much different than the other hybrid beds on this list; however, the feeling of the materials produced a uniquely soft, yet supportive sensation for our testers. Garrett says, “This bed feels really nice while side sleeping,” while Favilla adds “This is perhaps the comfiest bed yet for back sleeping for me. The pressure relief is noticeable, and the firmness level is perfect for my preferences.”

Why We Named It Best Cooling

The Aurora Luxe Cooling Mattress from Brooklyn Bedding lives up to its name as one of our editors’ and testers’ favorite beds for hot sleepers, with multiple cooling aspects throughout to help regulate temperature. Most hybrid beds have one to two active cooling features; the Aurora has seven: a cool-to-the-touch cover, copper and gel-infused foams and a breathable coil base.

Significantly Cooler Than Other Mattresses We Tested

Five people tested the ‘firm’ mattress model with the optional pillow top added, noting it felt noticeably cooler than the others, thanks to its cool-to-the-touch cover. In addition to our group testing, Chapman tested the medium mattress model with the pillow top at home for over a year, and says, “I found the bed nicely regulated my body temperature and kept heat from getting trapped. My husband also says this is the coolest mattress he’s ever slept on.” In addition to its cover woven with cooling fibers, it’s made with copper- and gel-infused foams that help draw body heat away and a system of pocketed coils that promote airflow.

Impressive Performance In Other Areas, Too

This bed is more than a cooling mattress; our testers also praise it for its ease of movement, motion isolation and edge support, all of which earned an 8 out of 10 or higher during testing. “It’s cushioning and responsive,” says Dillon. Simpson adds, “It feels really supportive when lying near the edge. Buy if: You’re tired of other mattresses you’ve tried and are open to something nontraditional.

Why We Named It Best Luxury

The most premium mattress within the brand’s Restore collection, the RestorePremier Hybrid possessed a uniquely weightless sensation that our testers didn’t find with any other mattress. In other words, the Purple’s combination of coils, foam and its hyper-polymer grid made us feel simultaneously lifted, hugged and cooled.

Ample Contouring Without Compromising Support

During testing, we found that the bed nicely contours to your curves when you lie on it. However, it doesn’t lack support. Favilla says she is “obsessed” with the mattress and it’s “incredibly comfortable,” adding, “I feel supported throughout my body.”For those reasons, the RestorePremier Hybrid earned an 8.5 out of 10 for comfort in each sleeping position: back, side and stomach. And although it’s bouncy, we rated it an 8 out of 10 for motion isolation, making it a good match for couples.

Comparable Cooling Prowess As Others We Tested

Best Organic Hybrid Mattress

An Eco-Friendly Choice With Three Firmness Options

Avocado Green (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.3

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Firm, medium or plush | Height: 11, 13 or 15.5 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 365 nights | Warranty: 25 years

Buy if: You like a supportive, bouncier feel and value an eco-conscious design.

Skip if: You aren’t willing to pay more for a softer profile (the softer the mattress model, the more it costs) or certified organic materials.

Why We Named It Best Organic

Organic Dunlop latex is the Avocado Green’s primary material, which gives it an incredibly responsive, supportive and contouring feel. The Avocado Green also features organic materials in the rest of its construction, including organic wool and cotton.

Excellent Support And Pressure Relief

Underneath its latex foam comfort layer is a system of over 1,000 pocketed coils, which provide targeted support and relief and help limit motion transfer. This combination of materials felt supportive and responsive during testing. The latex foam contours to your curves without making you feel like you’re trapped inside the bed’s layers. The pocketed coils and perforated foam also promote airflow, making it a good pick for hot sleepers.

Ideal For Back And Stomach Sleepers (Softer Versions Cost More)

Five testers tried the firm option and found it’s best for back and stomach sleepers, complimenting its ability to support the spine while lying in these positions. One tester claims, “The top is comfortable and soft, but the firmness and lack of sinkage is perfect for back sleepers. If someone is seeking a highly supportive mattress for their back, it would be a great option.” And while lying on her stomach, Chapman says, “It keeps my hips lifted and in line with my shoulders, while the latex and thick cover provide a gentle touch. It feels really comfortable in this position and very supportive. I don’t feel any areas of pain or discomfort.”Learn more in our Avocado Green Mattress review.

Best Soft Hybrid Mattress

Plush Pressure Relief Paired With Cooling Tech

Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid (Queen)

Forbes Vetted

Forbes Vetted ratings are based on thorough evaluations by our editorial team to help you choose the best products with confidence.

4.5

Type: Hybrid | Brand firmness rating: Medium-plush | Height: 14 inches | Shipping: Free (in a box) | Trial: 100 nights | Warranty: 10 years

Buy if: You sleep on your side and/or back and want a contouring memory foam feel.

Skip if: You’re strictly a stomach sleeper.

Why We Named It Best Soft

The Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid Mattress provided one of the most cushioning sensations out of all of the hybrid beds we tested. Compared to other soft mattresses that can make you feel like you’re sinking or sagging into the bed, the Mint Hybrid uses a layer of dense foam and microcoils (an additional set of 1-inch-thick springs that sit on top of the coil base) to give it a profile that’s “very dense but airy and pillowy at the same time,” says one tester, while another adds, “It feels like I’m floating.”

A Pressure-Relieving Choice For Side Sleepers

With such a soft and pressure-relieving feel, Chapman says, “This feels incredible while side sleeping. It has a soft foam feel that isn’t like quicksand but offers more of a cushioning hug. Both my hip and shoulder feel stellar pressure relief.” Dillon agrees, adding, “This mattress feels great when I’m on my side—I think it was made with side sleepers in mind. The foam is so cushy and marshmallowy but in a light and airy way, not a sinking way like typical memory foam. This makes it really pressure-relieving under my shoulders and hips.”

We also found this bed can accommodate back sleepers, although heavyweight sleepers over 250 pounds should consider a firmer mattress with more support, such as the .

Breathable, But Not As Cooling As Other Hybrids

The “Mint” in the name refers to the cooling features inside the bed, which includes breathable foam that’s infused with gel and graphite to help draw heat away from the body. Although this bed felt somewhat cool during testing, it’s not as cooling as the or , which we recommend as better options for true hot sleepers. Learn more in our in-depth Tuft & Needle Mint Hybrid review.

Other Hybrid Mattresses We Tested Worth Considering

We tested and considered 73 beds for this list. While the four mattresses below didn’t score highly enough in their respective categories to make the final cut for this list, they are still worth considering; all are featured in our guide to the Best Mattresses of 2026.

Best Affordable Runner-Up: : With a Forbes Vetted score of 4.5 out of 5, this mattress impressed our testers with its true medium-firm feel that’s ideal for back and stomach sleeping. It’s firm yet cushioned with sturdy support from the center to the edge of the bed, and at $649 for a queen-size bed, it’s among the most affordable options we’ve tried.

Best Luxury Runner-Up: : This mattress is the epitome of luxury, earning a 4.8 out of 5 from our mattress-testing team. It has everything you’d expect from a high-end bed, from a hand-tufted cover to Tempur-Indulge Memory Foam underneath. Our testers say it feels soft and squishy with enough firmness to accommodate most sleep needs.

Most Comfortable Runner-Up: : Receiving a Forbes Vetted score of 4.8 out of 5, this mattress stood out during testing thanks to its comfortable Euro pillow top. It feels breathable and plush; our testers compared lying on The WinkBed to being hugged by a cloud. That said, it feels a little firmer than advertised.

Best For Heavy People Runner-Up: : Made specifically for big and tall sleepers, this mattress earned an overall score of 4.5 out of 5 among our plus-size mattress testers. It’s firm and supportive for most heavyweight back and stomach sleepers, while providing ample pressure relief for heavyweight side sleepers. However, the provides a bouncier feel that’s a tad easier to move around on.

How We Tested The Best Hybrid Mattresses

To identify the best hybrid mattresses of 2026, our team undertook a rigorous, multi-stage testing process. Our sleep editors have tested over 150 hybrid mattresses throughout their careers, but for this list, we narrowed our pool down to 73 different models.

Our Testing Process

We put each mattress through a series of panel tests and ongoing long-term testing.

  • A diverse panel: We recruited a panel of testers representing a variety of body types, sleeping positions and comfort preferences to ensure our findings are widely applicable.
  • Three testing rounds: Our panel evaluated the mattresses during three intensive two-day-long testing sessions, allowing for direct side-by-side comparisons.
  • Long-term, at-home testing: We continue to conduct long-term testing for all of our top picks. This involves testers sleeping on the mattresses at home for at least 30 nights to get a true sense of their long-term comfort and durability.

Our Evaluation Criteria

During our hands-on testing, we scored each mattress based on its performance in four key areas:

  • Support: We tested for consistent support from the center of the bed to the edge. We also performed an edge support test by sitting on the side of the bed, as if bending over to tie a shoe, to check for compression.
  • Pressure relief: Lying in each sleeping position, we paid close attention to how well the comfort layers contoured to major pressure points, like the shoulders and hips, and noted any discomfort.
  • Motion isolation: To measure motion isolation, we performed a water glass test. We placed a full glass of water on one side of the bed and made various movements on the other, noting how much the water moved. The less it moved, the better the score.
  • Ease of movement: We noted how much bounce each mattress provided and whether it was easy to switch positions. We specifically looked for any resistance or feeling of being “stuck” in the foam layers.

What To Consider When Buying A Hybrid Mattress

Hybrid mattresses aren’t one-size-fits-all. To find your ideal match, it’s important to pay attention to your personal sleep needs and preferences.

Sleep Position And Firmness

When shopping for a hybrid mattress, your preferred sleeping position dictates what firmness level to consider.

  • Soft mattresses for side sleepers: Plush mattresses with cushioned comfort layers and cloud-like pillow tops minimize pressure buildup around the knees, hips and shoulders—the areas side sleepers need the most comfort.
  • Medium-firm mattresses for back and combination sleepers: These sleepers need a balance of softness and support, and a medium-firm bed provides the ideal combination of these features with enough pressure relief to ease tension and ample support to keep the spine in a neutral alignment.
  • Firm mattresses for stomach sleepers: This sleeping position requires the most support out of the bunch to prevent the hips from sinking into the bed—and throwing the spine out of alignment, as a result.

Support

Since hybrid mattresses contain coils, they excel at providing adequate support (as opposed to an all-foam bed, for instance). However, some hybrid mattresses are more supportive than others, depending on their firmness level, coil system and durability. The most supportive hybrid mattresses have a firmer profile and individually wrapped coils paired with at least two comfort layers. Some hybrid beds, like the , contain reinforced support systems consisting of dual-coil layers.

Pressure Relief

Hybrid beds also offer great pressure relief, thanks to their mixed-material construction. The coils help support the lumbar area, while the memory foam or latex comfort layers cradle the joints and contour high-pressure areas like the hips and shoulders. However, if you find yourself craving a more pressure-relieving bed, consider a softer hybrid mattresses, such as the or plush version of the .

Motion Isolation

Due to their spring base layer, hybrid mattresses can sometimes lack the same motion isolation abilities as a memory foam bed. However, certain hybrid mattresses—like the —also perform well in this category due to their combination of individually wrapped coils and dense, movement-absorbing foam layers. If motion isolation is a top concern (and you prefer a hybrid mattress), look for models with thick foam layers and wrapped coils, which can help limit motion transfer.

Cooling

Because of their airflow-promoting coil bases, hybrid mattresses are often more cooling than other mattress types. However, some hybrids take temperature regulation one step further by incorporating cooling covers and gel- or copper-infused foams in their constructions, which can be beneficial for hot sleepers or those who live in warmer climates. Keep in mind these additional cooling features usually total to a higher-priced mattress, but it can be worth the investment if you are a chronic hot sleeper.
